I have recently finished this cover illustration for Philadelphia Weekly.
The cover story ” Under the Gun: bad blood and business as usual “, written by Tara Murtha, reveals the story of a criminal trial of one of the 3 men involved in a 2005 revenge killing. The writer is trying to illustrate the complexity and complications of the criminal justice system; although the prosecution has a strong case against the defendant, given the heavy burden of proof, it may still not be able to obtain a conviction from the jury. The jury may return a verdict of not guilty, even in a strong case, because the prosecution was not able to prove the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Below are two other sketches that I sent to the art director, one illustrating the idea of the 3 men involved in the revenge killing, and the other one illustrating the idea of the slowness of the criminal justice. I really preferred this last one, showing the Lady Justice holding the hourglass, but that is me being subjective; after all the art directors often know their magazine and its look the most!

Photos from Art and Sole Exhibition
November 8th, 2010 by FeliciaI was recently involved in the Art shoe project and auction from PF Flyers. The exhibition took place in four cities from Canada and 40 artists from different disciplines- painters, sculptors, illustrators, grafitti artists, conceptual artists-were invited to submit their vision to bring a unique set of imageries on the classic shoe.
My vision was a personal one, and since I love painting, I approached the PF Flyers shoes as if they were a blank canvas. I have looked at the shoes as a means of expressing my personal work. My creative process was to deconstruct and paint the shoes into individual areas.
My personal work is a constant reflection of beauty as an inner state of being. The way we allow beauty to shape our identity in a self image culture, is a deep subject matter that seems to be an ongoing obsession for me. I am very drawn into painting the human figure and more so the female face. Often, the faces that I paint or draw have been in my mind ever since I was a child. The girls in my vision are always in question of something, carrying an honest emotion that is masked by lots of makeup almost hiding their true nature. The true nature of being an eternal child.
