I have found this piece through my desktop folders, and I have to admit, I have never thought it was anything special. The original drawing must be buried somewhere, that I have no recollection of. The subject matter goes back to my favourite thing to draw: women. When I first started drawing back in my childhood, that was the first thing I drew. I try to understand why I keep wanting to draw women and I guess I love the idea of changing identities and recreating the same innocence that I once knew.
I suppose there is something magical in drawing from impulse, and that is what this piece is. I think I created this in the fall and so I kept my colour palette in reds and violets. Since the artwork is not on my website, I decided to post it on Society6 first, and I got a great response. Now, I guess it deserves a blog post! It even looks great on an iPad skin, or t-shirt. Who would have thought?
